The Peñas Blancas Massif is awesome and is part of the core zone of the Biosphere Reserve of Bosawas.
Declared a natural reserve in 1999, with an area of 115.54 km2. The area includes one of the country's highest mountains (1,745 m) and is known for its majestic and exuberant nature, where you will find plenty of tropical forest ecosystems, including primary forest and cloud forest, waterfalls, huge cliffs, varied flora and fauna. In the massif you find particular landforms done by the presence of calcium that gives some of these walls the so characteristic color white.
We offer our guests the opportunity to visit the Massif with a tour guy. The distance is only 6km. by macadam road-way all the time. Within the area of the mountain we have a small property (20mz), which is used as an access road to ascend to La Pavona leap also known as the Rainbow Falls, property of the Cooperative agricultural Production Forest Guardians RL, with over sixty meters height, with crystal clear cold water and gives us an impressive and wonderful landscape, you can’t miss. The climb is extreme, it requires good physical condition.
If you want to visit the Cooperative Forest Guardians and Central Understanding of Nature (CUN) in Peñas Blancas and take time to fully understand the activities of conservation, the community and its , we invite you to visit the web page www.cenaturaleza.org.
